PSP2 As Powerful As A PS3 - Confirmed

As if BaXpAcE didn't fill you in enough about the rumoured PSP2, you have me doing it also!

The PSP2 is a system which hasn't been announced yet, but seems to be attracting a lot of attention. It'd make sense to release it this year, it would allow Sony to compete against Nintendo for the best hand-held. In one corner we have the Nintendo 3DS, in the other - potentially the PSP2. Where am I going with this? Well, I have some news regarding the PSP2. This is the first thing that has been officially confirmed, so brace yourselves.

The head of Codemasters, Rod Cousens, has revealed that Sony’s as-yet-unannounced handheld is “as powerful as the PS3”. This confirms the previous rumours regarding the handhelds capabilities. Despite Cousens saying this, developers said that about the original PSP. The graphics on the original PSP had slightly less quality when compared to the standard PS2 game – which wasn’t bad, but it was a bit deceiving - along with a lot of half-assed titles. Either way, playing something close to what the PS3 can do would be amazing, providing the games line-up was made a little better and closer to original franchises. Here’s the official word from Rod himself:

In portable areas, you’re going to have statements, which are already out in the press, saying PlayStation Portable 2 is as powerful as the PS3 – which is true.

So you’re going to get mobile devices as powerful as what were considered notebooks. I just think it gets bigger.

One can only imagine what the battery life and price would be. BaXpAcE from here at Dashhacks, told us that the device should have an OLED screen as well as 3G capabilities.
