Rumour: PlayStation Tablet

Sony has another PlayStation-branded product set to hit the shelves pretty soon.

Once again, Sony will work with Google to produce an Android-based tablet device which has been code-named the “S1”. The tablet will also play PlayStation One (PS1) titles - Like the Xperia Play.

Sony aims to combine the best of all worlds by incorporating its video, music and ebook digital services. The device comes pre-loaded with classic PlayStation games, just like the Xperia Play.

There’s no word on if the tablet is going to be PlayStation Suite certified but given the Android based platform – I think it’s likely.

The design of this rumoured PlayStation tablet is unique to say the least. The tablet has a folded design, which allows a better grip on the device. We don’t have an official picture to confirm how it’ll finally look, so we’ll use Engadget’s picture – Which looks nothing like the final product.

A Wall Street Journal told us the PlayStation phone won’t be the only device that supports PlayStation as a primary or secondary function, a second device was mentioned. This second device is likely to be the tablet; the description stated that the device will "blur distinctions among a netbook, an e-reader and a PlayStation Portable."

At this year's CES, PlayStation boss Kaz Hirai revealed that Sony would launch a line of Sony tablets. They told us that they would “incorporate video, music, games and book offerings on our Qriocity and our PlayStation Network services to deliver a compelling, unique experience for Sony across a wide range of consumer electronic devices."
